There are realities beyond this present world that the natural eye cannot see and the human mind can scarcely comprehend. Heaven is real. Eternity is real. Judgment is real. And hell is real. In the spring of 1975, shortly after surrendering my life completely to Jesus Christ, I experienced something that forever changed the course of my life and ministry. For more than two hours, I was allowed to enter a place of overwhelming darkness, unbearable torment, hopelessness, and separation from the presence of God. What I saw, heard, felt, and endured has remained engraved upon my heart for more than half a century.

I have not written this book to entertain, frighten, or sensationalize. I have written it because souls are eternal, time is short, and Jesus Christ is still calling sinners to repentance. Within these pages, I will share my experience as truthfully as I know how, examine what the Scriptures teach about hell, and answer many of the questions people have asked concerning its purpose, duration, and reality. My prayer is that this testimony will awaken the careless, strengthen the believer, stir the Church, and cause every reader to run into the loving and saving arms of Jesus Christ before it is too late.
