Helfta revisited: Poems by a Spanish lady

This book is the result of a voluntary seven-year exile with my husband to the mountains of Infinite Cantabria, looking for peace and inspiration in that green paradise unknown by many people; there, far from the frenetic crowd in our particular Walden."Helfta revisited", why this title? What is Helfta? You can read some information about that place in the first pages of the book. Why did I revisit that place? As a woman, I wanted to pay homage to the courageous female writers who lived and wrote there seven hundred centuries ago. Even nowadays, most men, especially critics, consider females inferior writers; imagine what males thought about those women at their time. Fortunately this is changing, but, when Helfta was founded, a woman devoted to writing was as unthinkable as humans going to the moon.Writing is my spiritual water and I confess I am usually very thirsty. Writing has been a need to me since I was a little girl. This book is divided into three parts: Psyche, Soma and Pneuma, the three elements of human essence, although some of my poems could fit any of these. There is a philosophical approach to our modern world through nature and science, ruled by universal forces and influenced by man, considering our human greatness and insignificance. Some poems deal with the relationship between man and woman as a couple.A few compositions are about poetics and poetry itself, the connection between reader and writer and the poem presented as an independent entity addressing its own author. Trivial or domestic subjects play an important role as well. All this expressed with crude severity, sharp irony or spicy humor.Art, and especially music, is also present in these pages.Beautiful images accompany my work.My mother tongue is Spanish and I humbly admit I have not a full command of English language, so I apologize for the mistakes you may find in my poems. Thanks in advance for your understanding. Both Spanish and English are great, but the latter sounds softer and sweeter, that's why I prefer it for writing poetry.Spanish sounds like a roaring waterfall.English sings like a quiet spring. My dear reader, hope you enjoy the words here.*************************************
