I read this book to my daughter at bed time and we both loved it and didn't want to put it down. The illustrations are really charming and add to the story. The story is about a girl who uses drawing and art to enter a new world. I found the story to have really strong female characters. I struggle to find that for my daughter. This was a welcome addition to my daughter's library. I highly recomend it for young boys and girls. It is an intelligent "fantasy" genre book for kids, but it seems more original than Harry Potter in my opinion. The plot of this book was more complex and not about magic, and dragons, and the same old stuff that people always write about as children's fantasy literature. This book is great!
Fantastic Book

My daughters and I discovered this book through an Arizona Girl Scout Book Club. We thoroughly enjoyed the book from cover to cover. It is well written and has many twists and turns in the plot. My daughters are fond of drawing, fashion, and fantasy. So of course this book was tops for them. In the book, Helen is a strong charachter and it is refreshing to find an adventure story which is not centered around a boy.

Helen the Transartist is a wonderful book that adults and children will enjoy. This book is much smarter and more original than the Harry Potter books. The illustrations are fun, whimsical and great, and really add to the book's appeal. Without being scary or violent, the book is compelling and you don't want to put it down! I highly recommend this book to people of all ages.
