Helen Adie was a teacher of Gurdjieff's Fourth Way, and one of its premier musicians and composers until her death in 1996. Together with her husband George Adie, she co-founded the Gurdjieff Society of Newport, which continues to this day. The heart of this book are her responses to questions by their pupils about the practical work. In addition, we include photographs, and some recordings of her playing the Gurdjieff/de Hartmann music and her own compositions for Movements. The questions and answers cover diverse topics, arranged thematically with an index for convenience, including these areas: aim, the purpose and value of the morning preparation, relaxing, collecting attention, self-remembering, moving, feeling, and the head, identification, considering, the work in daily life, in the family, in the workplace, negative emotion, dreaming, habits, exercises and tasks, making appointments, the Movements, energies (use and transformation), using the resistance, conscious labour and intentional suffering, and working during the recess, as well as special sections including answers by Mr Adie.
