Heirlooms digs deep down into the foundation of the mind of an African American woman born and raised in brooklyn, bedstuy. As she digs deep she uncovers the skeletons of things that she thought that she had let go. She realizes that a lot of things that she does has to do with the people around her, habits she learned as a child, and feelings that she has suppressed over and over again. As she comes across more things she realizes why she is the way that she is and she is able to let go of the thoughts and habits that do not serve her. She is a good person.
