After Prince Everette and Princess Morisa fought to save their planet, their lives have settled down and they are celebrating the birth of their first child. The boy is filled with potential, but fragile. Unexpectedly, the infant and his mother weaken and are close to death. Morisa's priestess mother insists they come to the monastery for healing. There the unthinkable happens, enabling the head priestess to convince the grieving princess to resume her training at the temple.

Meanwhile, Everette's sister, Fawn, follows her husband, Baymond, to a distant planet, where he shares an ancient teaching of love and instills great hope in the local people. But at a peaceful gathering, the world conqueror attacks and they are taken captive.
