This book will drive you up the wall.

The story has good premises. The characters are ok. The real problem is the writing. The author has a nasty habit of both annoying flashbacks and a bunch of “meanwhile back at the ranch.” You do not get to hold a consistent thought before switching to some other place, person, or time. The book starts as the standard old mummy movie, or maybe a tad of Bram Stoker. The nosy archaeologist gets up and comes. Force yourself to read further, as it finally evens out to a nice standard, a Laura Croft-type mystery story.
