"Five-year-old Heidi, an orphan, has been sent to live with her grandfather in the Swiss Alps. All of his neighbours fear him, but Heidi knows he is kind at heart, and the two learn to live happily together. Heidi loves her life, but soon her aunt takes her away and forces Heidi to work for strangers in town as a companion to their handicapped daughter, Clara. Heidi befriends Clara and begins to learn to read and write, but she is also homesick for her grandfather and best friend, a goat-herd. Will she ever make it back to her beloved mountain home? Johanna Spyri's classic tale has been adapted into an easy-reading Stepping Stones format, while keeping all the love, friendship, and adventure of the original book."
I got the Puffin in Bloom version of Heidi and I recommend it a lot. A great story, and a super pretty book with pictures and info in the back!!
Best Book EVER!

This is my favorite book I have read in a long time. And I have read many books. It has so many details. When I came to review this I was very mad it only had 1 star. Most of the Puffin books are okay, but this is the best!I am the type of person that puts down a book when it is boring or when I am disliking it. I did that with some of the Puffin books and many other books...not with this book. I was sad when I finished it because I wanted it to keep on going forever. I hope people think more of this book. If it didn't have a cover would you like it? Heidi is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love it, love it, love it!!!

Great classic story! Well written! My kindergartener and I both love it! It was helpful for her to watch the movie with Shirley Temple before we began reading it, since some of the wording is a bit old-fashioned. But it is definitely a book she will grow into and enjoy even in the years to come. I like the little ribbon bookmark that it comes with, also.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this at age 65 as much or more than I did as a child. It is well written and superbly crafted for a reasonable price.
WHY AM I THE FIRST PERSON TO REVIEW THIS AMAZING BOOK???

This is a captivating, heart warming story of a five year old girl, who is sent to live with her grandfather, high on the swiss alps... Heidi's grandfather lived the life of a hermit, up on the mountain, rarely seen by anyone, untill Heidi, his only grandchild, comes from her aunt, who has looked after her since the death of her parents, to live with him. Heidi worms her way into the grumpy old man's heart in a way that no-one ever thought possible, with her childish affections, and the belief that her grandfather can do no wrong... But when Heidi is sent to live in the city, what will happen??? 'Heidi' is a simply written story that will captivate, and warm the hearts of all readers.
This is a great book!

At first I didn't want to read it becuase it looked too long. But then when I saw how big the words were and how nice the pictures were, I read it. It was a VERY good book. So read Heidi now!
