In the sport of boxing, there have been many heavyweight champions of the world, especially in these modern days of fragmented titles and all the different governing bodies. Obviously, some are better than others, but from time to time men will emerge who for one reason or another stand out from the rest.
They could be described as being 'Heavyweight Elite.' Men like Jack Johnson, the first ever black heavyweight world champion, 'The Manassa Mauler' Jack Dempsey, who brought with him into the ring a new rugged and vicious style, the legendary 'Brown Bomber' Joe Louis, who not only held the world title for an astonishing 12 years, but also made 25 successful defences of his crown and never lost his title in the ring. 'The Brockton Blockbuster' Rocky Marciano, who was never once beaten, and of course Muhammad Ail, the self-acclaimed 'Greatest' who needs no introduction whatsoever.
With regards to the above, the following book tells the story of Rocky Marciano, though it is not as such a biography of the man. It does contain all the relevant details of his life from his birth to his eventual untimely death, but it is concentrated more on his actual fights in the ring, particularly his world title contests.
It was an 'UNBEATEN RUN' of 49 fights, with 49 wins, no defeats, and with 43 of those victories having come inside the full scheduled distance. However, this is not a sugar-coated depiction of the man, he was brutal inside the ring, and as such could be rough with it, but it all combines to give the reader an accurate account of 'The Brockton Blockbuster' Rocky Marciano.
