This text covers the 8th International Conference on Heavy Ion Accelerator Technology which discussed electrostatic ion accelerators and associated superconducting linacs. Continuing the trend of the last several meetings in this series, two sessions were needed to report developments in superconducting ion accelerators. Also, many interesting recent developments were reported in a session devoted to ECR ion sources. Several applications received attention. Another session was devoted to atomic mass spectroscopy. Two sessions and a number of poster presentations focused on the technology needed for beams of exotic, radioactive nuclei.
