Heavenly Joy is a beautifully illustrated short story about a sorrowful sunflower named David, who struggled to endure his suffering. Nearly all the other sunflowers in the field were joyful and happy, despite their numerous afflictions. However, despite his best efforts, little David found that he could only cry - for his pain was very great.
Where then was God? Surely Christ must wish for the poor sunflower to be happy and joyous as the others. Was the sunflower simply not working hard enough? The other flowers surely thought so, but were they truly right? Alas, how often we judge wrongfully, when God in fact sees otherwise. Read on to find out how David learned to bear his cross in imitation of Christ.
