An inspirational duo of Christmas stories!

A Cloud Mountain Christmas by Robin Lee Hatcher: A common thread in many of the Christmas novels I've read this holiday season is the benefits of slowing down and simplifying one's life, focusing on important things like solid relationships and opening one's heart to the God's plan for our lives. In this story, Maddie is learning to trust again after her devastating high-profile divorce from a pro athlete. While on a business trip to a rural ski lodge, she finds herself reacquainted with her former college classmate, who owns the lodge and has outgrown his nerdy college image. A minor ski accident extends her stay at the lodge, and she gets caught up in the Christmas activities there, including a huge family reunion celebration with the other lodge guests. With divine providence at work, she reevaluates her life, heals her past hurts, and finds the happiness that had eluded her until now. This story is very nicely done, delivers its message subtly yet powerfully, has very likeable characters and a wonderful supporting cast, and a beautful setting. A Match Made for Christmas by Kathryn Springer: A heartwarming story about a youth minister and her group of preteen girls who bring Christmas cheer to down-and-out people in their community, and the hardened cynical reporter who follows them around. A lovely rural neighborhood, and a well done story with lots of interesting supporting details, remind us what Christmas, love and community are all about.

Two heartwarming stories for the holidays!

A Cloud Mountain Christmas is a lovely story of healing and trust restored by award winning author Robin Lee Hatcher. Maddie Scott travels to Cloud Mountain Lodge in Idaho to complete a business deal. She doesn't expect to fall in love with the area, the community, or handsome lodge owner Tony Anderson. A Match Made for Christmas is both heart touching and humorous. Kathryn Springer makes the small town of Jackson Lake and its inhabitants come alive. Sarah Kendle, youth leader, doesn't expect the Christmas project her seventh grade girls came up with to create such a stir. When reporter Conner Lawe travels home to aid his ailing father's newspaper, he sees a great Christmas story in the teens project. But Sarah doesn't want Conner too close, to her or the girls! Both novellas are enjoyable, charming, and a quick read. They'll remind readers of the true meaning of Christmas and God's power to bring love and healing. I have yet to read a story by Robin Lee Hatcher that I don't like, and this one is no exception. But I enjoyed Kathryn's story even more. She created a marvelous place and wonderful characters in her story, and I'm hoping she will create more stories with the inhabitants of Jackson Lake.
