The gospel anchors us, it gives us hope for the eternities and provides a foundational knowledge about the afterlife and joy we will feel being reunited with our loved ones. Faith anchors us but what are the tools we need here and now to get through to that point, to make it to the next step, to endure to the end? For those who experience grief at any level, what do we do with our mortal selves until then? For me it is likely another forty years on earth, for others even longer. What do we do, how do we cope? Job cursed the day he was born. He never cursed God. But he also never tells us what he did in the mean time to keep that perspective of praising God amidst his grief. We need more understanding and sharing my story will offer a little insight into our pain and hopefully, part of our healing. As we as a family have shared our story, my sense is that Sawyer can do that for others as well. In his baby blessing he was blessed to "be a unifying force in our family and in the world". Never in a million years did I imagine it would be in this way.
