Silliness from cover to cover!

Mark Spalding is a charlatan. I've known him for over three decades, and I speak truthfully when I say nothing he spews is legitimate. This "book" is just his way of getting on the map. He has always been jealous of me, and lost every debate we've had.

The Connection Between Rock & Roll, The Shaman's Drum And Journeying Across The Rainbow Bridge

OK, as pointed out by the two previous reviewers of the book 'The Heartbeat of the Dragon' by Mark Spaulding, this is not a volume that will win any literary awards. However in its defense it never intended to do so. It's sole purpose is; 1-to serve as an evangelical tool to convert the non-Christian and 2- to inform the community of the faithful of what the author perceives as the historical, demonic roots of rock music and its influence on modern culture. When judged as to its success or failure of accomplishing these two tasks I would say that it's a resounding success. Being born and raised as I was within the evangelical Protestant worldview I can say with the utmost certainty that the ideas and beliefs written within this 264 page paperback book is a clear and detailed presentation of what mainstream Christianity firmly believes about rock music and its alleged association with the world of the demonic. The author develops his thesis tying together important moments in rock history, quotes from famous performers, song lyrics and other sources in rather convincing fashion building a strong argument for his viewpoint which will make perfect sense to most of his reading audience (what one would call "preaching to the choir", while sounding absolutely insane to everyone else. But then isn't that always the case when it comes to religious beliefs? For those that buy into his spiritual paradigm Mark Spaulding's book should serve as an eye-opener and valuable resource material. For everyone else you might find it entertaining to get a authentic glimpse at what the Christian community believes. P.S.: Probably not worthy of a -5 Star- rating, but since it was done an injustice by the two previous reviewers who only gave it -1 Star- I feel I'm righting a wrong.
