Book Overview

One of the wealthiest heiresses in England, Eliza Thoroughgood is the ideal catch for the right man. But the husband her parents have chosen for her is a paragon of masculinity and urbane wit, while Eliza is shy and bookish and detests the public eye. So she comes up with the perfect escape from the perfect bridegroom: She will accompany her young cousin, Aubrey, to the sultry island of Madeira, where he can recuperate from a riding injury. Eliza has never been to sea, and she's in for the adventure of her life when she and Aubrey are taken hostage by a vengeful buccaneer. Cyprian Dare has waited his whole life to destroy the nobleman who abandoned his mother and made him a bastard. He doesn't believe in fate or luck--until the Lady Haberton sails out of port, setting in motion his abduction of his half-brother Lord Haberton's heir. But he hadn't planned on the boy's beautiful, fiercely protective cousin. Desire is the wild card as Eliza awakens emotions Cyprian has never allowed himself to feel before. Can a woman's loving touch heal the heart of a man who lives only for revenge? Contains mature themes.

I completely enjoyed this fun read!

You'll enjoy this book and all of Ms Becnel's books!

Great !!!!!!

I loved this book!!! I thought that Cyprian and Eliza were soo good together. Something about RB, she makes her characters so likeable and you feel like you are right there with them. She also gives them such realistic characteristics, feelings that I myself have had from one time to another!! This book is a keeper and anyone who reads it will not be sorry!!

A definite keeper!

I really enjoyed this book. The hero, Cyprian Dare, kidnaps Eliza and her cousin Aubrey, who happens to be his half-brother. Their father deserted Cyprian's mother years ago and now Cyprian wants revenge. The hero decides he wants Eliza for as long as he's holding her captive and Eliza (who suffers from timidity and asthma) finds herself becoming physically stronger and not-so-timid because of this experience, wants him, too. The love scenes between them are explosive and erotic as Cyprian teaches Eliza the passionate side of her nature. Cyprian tries to hide his growing love Eliza by using sex and he even asks her to stay with him indefinitely. I like the way the author got Eliza to let Cyprian release her, even though he wanted her to stay. I also like the way they work through his issues of trust and feelings of betrayal with her family. I like the way the author showed how the father's actions affected Cyprian, and even Aubrey, and how one should take care of their responsibilities and treat others the way they'd want to be treated. I'd read it again.

ALL HER BOOKS ARE GREAT!!

I really enjoy all of her books and have read all but 1 so far. This was as different location and type of story but with a good love interest. I read a synopsis in the back of the book about a book "A Kiss In The Storm" to be published in 1996. The publisher wasn't any help and I would like to know if any reader has discovered if it was published under a different name. It is about Adam Slater and Daphne Melerine a "mistress" of an older man who has passed away. They meet at the solicitor's office at the reading of the will. PLEASE HELP!! I would hate to miss any of her wonderful books.
