I miss being a kid, waking up every day and not worrying about the state of the world. My biggest worry was whether my stand-out slips would stand out enough to fill the multi-folds of my skirt. My only angst was whether my sisters would behave when friends came. My only worry was wanting to get through gym class knowing my below-par skills would mean being the last one chosen for team plays. All I had to be concerned about was the possibility of a pimple popping out before the next "most important day in my whole life." I hated being the tallest girl, and I spent hours studying every angle of my face. Oh, what I'd give for a cute nose like Sandra Dee, big expressive eyes like Natalie Wood, long wavy auburn-colored hair like Ann Margaret, perfect peaches and cream skin like Elizabeth Taylor, and a voice like Mitzi Gaynor. My parents were oh so very out of touch with "modern" times, and I was desperate to figure out how to cope all by myself. Being a kid certainly had its challenges. However, now that I'm all grown up and have raised a family myself, I realize the years of my youth were a significant blessing, and my parents were amazing. I'm very grateful for my "Heart and Home" and the influence extending beyond those walls in a little farming community in Tooele County, Utah and into the walls of homes I've since occupied.
