As a gay man that wanted to keep his faith, Larry had difficulty finding a path to follow that did not include flawed theology that tried to push him away. His difficulty focused on the theological statements about LGBTQ people that were found in religious doctrines and beliefs that excluded Larry because he was gay. Because many of the statements made against people like Larry were not actually true, this caused a big problem. It was not possible to follow his faith along with the religion that was attached to it, rejecting him and his truth. Because Larry knew what was true about him, what he chose and what he did not, the fallacies of the church were without defense. He was forced to figure out where the church theology had gone off track and had to build back roads and bridges with which he could walk, if he was to continue on his path of faith and truth. Larry's writings share his journey of building bridges so that he could maintain his faith and continue on the walk to which he was called. He shares the many conversations and topics that arose on his journey and shares them with others so that they can accept themselves and others. They too can walk in the faith and truth of God, above religious interpretations and misconceptions perpetuated at the cost of those they are willing to discard. God calls Larry to be visible in his world and his prayer is that everyone can be heard and seen in the world as God sees us all.
