I don't know about you, but for a large portion of my life, I believed that learning about relationships required a great deal of experience and trial and error. They didn't seem to be things you could research. It turns out I was entirely mistaken. Being a good friend and partner requires learning; it's a skill that we could all use a little refresher training in from time to time. Since there are so many variables that affect how we behave in relationships, such as baggage from the past and individual communication preferences, the better equipped you are to actually connect with and show up for people the more things there are to consider.
The "relationship education" you receive can be pursued in a variety of ways. One resource is relationship books, especially those published by relationship professionals like couples therapists, counselors, and psychologists.
