When we view the person as a psychophysiological being, our consideration of mind/body interactions leads to interesting questions about how illness develops and new thinking about recovery and maintenance of good health. Health Psychophysiology reviews the foundations of this field. Specific health problems -- for example cardiovascular disorders, pain, and stress -- are discussed in depth, along with interventions such as biofeedback. The book concludes with an introduction to wellness, the upper region of health that lies beyond the absence of illness.
