Health effects of radon

Latest news 2012 from the United Kingdom: 5 identified primary schools have been detected with high levels of the radioactive gas - radon, being spread within the atmosphere. The Health Protection Agency has warn that the affected schools would need to be closed down until work has been effectively carried out. Seven weeks of work are going to be effected, according to some British researchers. The most effective method of diminishing levels of radon is via the use of a vent pipe system and fan which are going to radon from beneath the schools and vents it to the outside. This method is mostly known as sub-slab depressurization or active soil depressurization or even soil suction. The British Government has estimated that more than 50,000 are going to be spent by Sheffield Council on work at all five schools. The 5 schools include the Ecclesall Infants, Totley Primary, Birley Primary, Westways Primary and Birley Spa Primary.
