John Chamberlin is a history professor on the frontier world of Maya, looking forward to gaining tenure and a wife, when civil war breaks out between human settled worlds. He and his younger brother enlist in the tiny Federal Navy and find themselves caught up in the enormous conflict that has engulfed humanity. John's intelligence and courage are both tested and rewarded as the conflict rages toward its inevitable conclusion. The two brothers are present at the birth of the fabled Hawk, but find that the impending end to fighting signals an even bigger challenge - winning the peace."Hawk Genesis: War" is the first volume in the series. Book 4, (published first) "Hawk Seven" rose up to #4 on the Amazon High Tech bracket last year. Book two, "Hawk Genesis: Peace" is now available, with the third book, "Hawk Flight: Rank and File", due out later this year.Authors note: A traditional $25 hardback book will typically earn the author about $2 in royalties, and no earlier than six months after the fact. This is not a slam against traditional publishers, but the odds against even getting an agent are low; getting published far lower, and actually making a living falls somewhere near the possibility of the invention of cold fusion. Ebooks represent a new and exploding segment of an old and honored creative art that offers opportunities to new writers to gain experience, readers and possibly a few dollars. The downside is that the writer will typically not have access to Phd toting editors, pricy and cranky proofreaders and graphic artists who insist on creating covers that look nothing like the story the writer wrote. There is however, a potential upside for the reader: the opportunity to save $21 and find a wonderful new writer. I would be shocked if there weren't a few typos, but I believe this ninth published effort to be far and away my best work. Prove me right.
