Hawaiiana Numismatic Issues from The Franklin Mint: Medals, Coins, and Ingots

The collector who specializes in Hawaiian medals, coins, and/or ingots has had an established guidebook since 1991 titled, Hawaiian Money: Standard Catalog Second Edition, by Medcalf & Russell. The recently released 2015 book titled, Hawaiiana Numismatic Issues from The Franklin Mint: Medals, Coins and Ingots, by Gomez performed a specialized refresh on the established guidebook. The Medcalf & Russell guidebook cataloged 50 items (37 medals and 13 ingots) issued by The Franklin Mint. The Gomez book increased The Franklin Mint issues count to 114 (80 medals and 34 ingots). What makes this increased issue count interesting is the fact that none of the additional Gomez identified issues was struck after 1990. In addition to the cataloging the newly identified Franklin Mint issues, Gomez also re-cataloged the issues identified from the Medcalf & Russell guidebook. Gomez cross checked his catalog listings against the established guidebook listings. He identified two types of discrepancies in the Medcalf & Russell guidebook.
