FROM THE PREFACE... This important book is about the devastating and eternal consequences of sexual sin. Specifically, we look at the sin of fornication - sex between boyfriend and girlfriend. First, we define the exact meaning of "fornication." It is a word that is not used very often these days, even among Christians. What does it mean? Where did the word originate? Why does the New Greek Testament use a word that means "to act like a prostitute," "porneuo," to define "fornication" or "sexual immorality?" In this book, we are going to carefully examine every main verse on "fornication" or "sexual immorality" in the New Testament. The Bible gives a lot of instruction against sexual sin and how to avoid it or repent of it. We start with the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who is the Truth. Jesus said that fornication - sex between boyfriend and girlfriend - is evil and it defiles people. He exposes the root of the sin and shows its damaging effect on anyone who engages in it. No one spoke about sexual sin as much as the apostle Paul. He taught against it in Galatians, Ephesians, Colossians, and 1 Thessalonians. However, it is in 1 Corinthians that he lays down a powerful revelation of just how corrupting sexual sin can be for both Christians and non-Christians. Without hesitation, Paul says repeatedly that fornicators go to hell. No sexually immoral man or woman will ever inherit the kingdom of God or Christ. Interestingly, the one book of the New Testament that says the most about sexual sin is the book of Revelation. Several chapters are from this critical prophetic book. The most corrupting influence in world history has been the great prostitute of Revelation. She is both a city (Babylon) and a woman (the great whore). The kings of the earth and all the inhabitants of the world fornicate with this woman who is "the mother of all harlots (fornicators) and abominations of the earth." From the book of Hebrews, we learn that all fornicators and adulterers are judged by God. Surprisingly, the author of Hebrews says that all sexually immoral people are like Esau. These are people who sacrifice all of their future and valuable possessions for a few moments of sinful pleasure. Esau and fornicators never gain back what they lose. In one hard-hitting verse after another, the New Testament writers reveal that believers in Christ are to "flee from fornication," "abstain from fornication," "avoid fornication," "repent of fornication," and "don't commit fornication" because it is "a work of the flesh" that must be "put to death." This sin is so contagious, we are told to have no fellowship with any fornicator - don't even eat lunch with such a person. Paul said that sexual immorality is so deadly, 23,000 of God's people died in one day because of it! It is the will of God that we live a holy life and abstain from all sexual sin. My body was not made for fornication, but for the Lord. Your body is God's dwelling place. "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" My sincere prayer is that all true believers in Christ will read this book and receive its convicting and sanctifying message. Sexual sin is destroying our culture. Let it not destroy you. By the power of the Spirit and the grace of Almighty God, you can live a sexually pure life.
