Having Fun with Music: The Young Child's First Piano Book

The books in the Having Fun with Music series are designed to provide teachers and parents with a complete method for teaching young children about the fundamentals of music along with basic piano skills. The activities in these books were specifically created for children in kindergarten through the early elementary grades based on the developmental needs of this age group. Each lesson introduces basic musical concepts through games and other activities, and each unit concludes with a song to be sung and played. Children are encouraged to listen, to sing, to move, and to improvise at the keyboard, while also learning about musical notation. In addition to the piano activities in every lesson, each unit also contains optional activities for using a floor keyboard to promote whole-body learning. The Having Fun with Music series may be used by piano teachers, parents, grandparents, or anyone else who would like to share their own love of music with a young child.
