Haunebu Horizon

Flight Lieutenant James "Jimmy" Adams, an Australian pilot, boarded his Avro Lancaster bomber in 1943 for a perilous mission. As the plane roared into the sky, enemy fire struck, forcing a desperate descent. Parachuting to safety, Adams landed amid hostile territory, evading capture until he was seized and interrogated in a secretive German facility. Deemed suitable for advanced tech development, he was thrust into the Haunebu project, a saucer-like craft with anti-gravity propulsion powered by electromagnetic fields and exotic materials, blending Nazi ambition with speculative engineering to achieve unprecedented speed and stability.

In this imaginative tale, the Haunebu enabled a covert Nazi Moon landing in 1944, far predating Apollo. As the war ended in 1945, Allied forces uncovered the tech, leading to Operation Paperclip, which recruited German scientists for U.S. programs. Jimmy Adams returned to Australia, settling in South Australia and flying Red Cross missions in remote regions, haunted by his wartime moral dilemmas.

Post-war, a clandestine program at Woomera evolved from Haunebu roots, surpassing NASA by targeting Jupiter's moons, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto, for mining water ice and minerals in the 1950s. Project Erebus launched to the outer solar system, involving Adam's daughter, Barbara, an astrophysicist. Amid a budding romance with crewmate Daniel, the mission turned tragic, environmental hazards and failures claimed lives. Barbara returned alone, grief-stricken, bound by CIA-enforced secrecy, her father's legacy a bittersweet echo of humanity's bold, perilous reach into the unknown.
