Tale of reverse snobbery

Erika Yurken, Yuk to her 6th grade classmates and Erk to her family, tells her story as only a neurotic, hyprochrondiac and bordering on pathological liar can tell it. She thinks she is tops in her "socially disadvantaged school" until upperclass, golden girl Alison Ashley is enrolled. Erk can only dream of the style and class Alison seems to have. And Erk longs to get out of her neighborhood and leave her goofy loutish family behind. Set in Australia in the early 80's, book is filled with aussie slang but that shouldn't impede a reader's enjoyment.

Practically Perfect in Every Possible Way

I believe that Hating Alison Ashley is one of the most hilarious books that I have ever read in my life. Also I think that the way it is structured around the school camp is very clever. I recommend this book to be for readers from 7 up. Also I would like to comment on the imagination that Robin Klein has put into this book. She is a very talented writer. So if you need a laugh then pick up this book and read away. I ensure you that it will bring your spirit back to joyfullness- (...).

Amazingly Great!!!

Hating Alison Ashley was a great and exciting book! It is about a girl called Erica Yurkon but people call her Erk. Erica lives in a not so fancy town where she goes to school with other not so rich students. One day a girl called Alison Ashley comes to the school and Erica thinks she is PERFECT! Her clothes are fancy, she has pearl earrings and her mother picks her up from school in a expensive car. Erica becomes jealous of her after minutes, especially because she has to look at her all day seeing that Erica sits next to Alison. Erica and Alison get in numerous fights, but sometimes are also nice to each other. Erica pretends that all of Erica's sisters clothes are her, just so she can have clothes like Alison. After a few weeks there class go on School Camp and they have to perform a play in groups and Erica is with Alison! To find out what happened at the camp read 'Hating Alison Ashley'.

Great!

This is my all time favorite book! When ever anybody asks me to recomend a good book ( everybody knows i'm a book worm! ) I never hesitate to say, " Hating Alison Ashley" even though I read it at least 3 years ago! Everybody should read this book!

Witty and Gripping

"Hating Alison Ashley" Is a magnificent piece of work by Robin Klein displaying how the life of Erica Yurken is more than Average, and with the new addition of the "perfect as ever" Alison Ashley to her school, Erica will not give in to the battle of embarassinng Alison, or at least proving her wrong. In the process, however, hhe ends up embarassing herself moreso. Overall, a magnificent and hurourous novel!
