Harry Roberts is no ordinary boy, though his family are ordinary, working class people living in Manchester.Harry is four years old, in 1923, when his family move to a new housing estate on the outskirts of Manchester. It is around this time that his "gift" becomes apparent. He can detect the feelings of others, especially those of his family, and he later finds that he can sometimes influence the feelings of others, particularly when he comes into contact with the school bully. He also has an uncanny affinity with animals.And then there's the dream; the dream that recurs as he is growing up, and points to something that will happen in his adult life. The dream accompanies his growing up and eventually joining the forces and taking part in WW2.
