Great job!

Book as advertised My daughter loves it Thank you!

Gross Damaged Book

I ordered a "Like New" condition and It's feels like someone is laughing behind my back. The book has so much water damage that the pages are stuck and if you try to peel them apart it rips everything. Flakes of the pages are falling out the book, some in huge chucks. I can't believe they would even try to sell this book under any condition but to list it as "Like New"!!! I feel so taken advantage of. The whole book is ruined, all that art work is so pointless now.

Arrived damaged. Way past acceptable condition.:(

Very Disappointing

Excellent condition

Love that it came in excellent condition for it being used. I have already read the book. Now I'm just starting my collection.

Purchased a “like new” hard cover copy but it came with NO JACKET. I’ll end up donating it…

I’ll end up donating it…Definitely not like new.

First time read.

Had seen all the films and decided to read the series. I like the little details of Harry's life so far and how he is becoming a more confident self. Like how Hogwarts is described. Dislike would be Draco Malfoy,.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter is not a normal boy. He lives with the Dursley family after the deaths of his parents, Lily and James Potter. When he turns 11, he gets a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When he meets Ron Weasley, and Hermoine Granger, and the Groundskeeper, Rubeus Hagrid, they become friends. During the first year, they fight a troll, and they form enemies, like Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle. Soon Harry finds out that not all wizards are good; some are evil. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a children's fantasy classic by British author J K Rowling. Read the novel, before seeing the movies.

so good

such a great read loved it

My kid liked it

Book’s condition was wonderful. My kid liked it. Happy purchase

Was Captivated from the first page.

This started a craze for Harry Potter through my entire family. Excellent story that leaves you excited for the next book.

Beware if using this site to purchase gifts!!

I hate to be this way but I used this site to get these books for my daughters birthday. Maybe it states somewhere that you are not guaranteed what is pictured but I believed the book would at least have the dust jacket! It was the WHOLE point of buying it here. Just made me sad because I couldn't give her the full set like I hoped and now will most likely donate this book because it isn't what I wanted, so I'm out that money.

Awesome

Bought the "good" condition. I feel likes it's been read once. It would rank it in at least very good. I'm very happy with the purchase

perfect

very good quality

God help me.

Twice now I ordered this hardcover and got 2 different levels of display. Both of them came without a dust cover and when I emailed them the first time they said my second order would have one. Nope.

Folded

I bought a like new copy and it came very folded front and back. It was blended in some parts of. The rest of the book is fine but it wasn’t what I payed for so it was a little stressful.

Amazing!

I ordered a "like new" copy, and it looked like new. All pages were intact, and it looks as if the book has never been opened. There were a few tears in the dust cover, but other than that, I think its a 10/10.

Was Not the book I ordered

I was supposed to get a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone but a totally different book was sent to me. My daughter, who thought she was about to read a book that was her 11th birthday present, was very disappointed when she showed me her book. It was a white hardback of another novel. I’m a Harry Potter fan and I know what the American Versions hardbacks are supposed to look like. This was the only book in my order that disappointed me.

False advertising ... No dust Jacket :(

False advertising ... No dust Jacket was included with the book purchase.. Must Read & Great book for kids above 8...

About the condition not the book

This book came to me in awful condition. It smelled awful and it had water damage. It literally smelled like cat pee

Unexpected

I ordered a Like New hardcover and the spine was broken and it arrived without a dust jacket. The only redeeming quality was that it was a good price.

Binding was completely ruined

My book was supposed to be “good” but it came with the binding not attached to the cover. I’m very disappointed. I have order many books from this website and this is the first real problem I have had!

Version with Illustrations by Jim Kay- NOT FOR THE ARACHNOPHOBIC!

Jim Kay is an astoundingly talented artist. His portraits of the spiders in Harry's cupboard hit a little too close to home for me. Other than that: Book arrived in good time, was in absolutely perfect condition, and the quality of the binding is enough to make me cry with joy.

Received my Harry Potter book and Literature Guide today. For the first time, I am disappointed. T

Rating is for story Not the "book" I received.

Thirftbook should have better sorting system

I ordered a "very good condition" book. However, the book came without the original cover. It is quite disappointing because I order all 7 books for the hardcover version. I only received 3 so far (including this one), but my half-way collection already looks incomplete. Just saying, if there is thing missing from the original store-buy package, it shouldn't be considered as "very good condition". Otherwise, what do you call "acceptable"? Unbelievable.

I have it already; great book 5 stars.

fantastic stories...

nice book and interesting stories..

More exciting to read as mother language!!

Of course, JKR's first book was the most eye-widening book among the 5 books (up till now) and it's more exciting to read in mother language as it takes time for a chinese to read an english book. (I guess there's no need for me to explain the greatness of the Rowling books) So lets go back to the translation. It's nice (but not great) as this edition is translated by Taiwanese which use lots of slang language which other Chinese-speaking people do not understand. So, personally, I would suggest the Simplied Chinese editon for nicer translation.

Wonderful Book!

The world of Harry Potter is magical and enthralling in any language. Many reviewers have criticized the omissions in translation. It should be noted that an accurate and interesting book cannot be translated to another language verbatim. Many bits of humor would be lost in unnatural descriptions. Instead, the translator appended when needed to make a sound linguistic and cultural switch. Enjoyable for Francophones and native english-speakers with good french reading abilities.

Viel Spass!

I read this in German before reading it in English. It's a lot of fun in both languages. In fact, it's great for improving one's skills in another tongue, because it's so enjoyable, you'll keep on reading. Taught me a lot of words that my German teachers never bothered with.
