Harriet and the Little French Doll

The one thing Harriet wanted for Christmas more than anything was the lovely little French doll. Her hair was dark and curled under a cunning hat with silk ribbon bows. She wasn't smiling and showing her teeth like the other dolls, but her tiny mouth seemed ready to kiss. Her dress was all silk, lace, and bows. Her socks were white silk too, and the dainty slippers had real buckles. There were other dolls there that were much larger and perhaps prettier, but the moment Harriet saw this one, she felt it should be in her own doll family.
