Richard Harper was born and raised on a large estate in Somerset, Maryland. He was raised by his mother Elizabeth Harper. His father was a war correspondent for the United States and traveled the world for the Pentagon. While in Israel planning further air attacks on Iraq, he was killed by a terrorist sniper before Harper was born in 1981. His mother kept her famous madden name and raised Richard as a Harper. Their family dates back to a time before the Revolutionary War and their wealth was in the millions. Richard, his friends and work associates call him Harper was a Franklin County Ohio Homicide Detective along with his friend Detective Carl Yates. In June 2018 during the Charlotte Banks homicide case, Detective Yates confided in Harper about his cancer. Detective Yates was Harper's mentor and he considered him like a father. Over the next thirty-five days Harper lost both his mother and Carl. It was at that time he began to question whether or not he wanted to remain a homicide detective. Within a month Harper had resigned from the Franklin County Sheriff's department. It wasn't until he decided to move to Florida that he began to feel normal and more relaxed. After working with an old friend Sarasota County Sheriff, Ronald Beckett as a consultant on a kidnapping case, he decided he wanted to be a Private Investigator in Florida. The best change in Harper's life was the moment he met Melissa Richardson on Tuesday July 30th, 2019. She decorated his Palm Island house and added character to his home. Unlike Harper's Ohio condo his Florida home looked lived in. He quickly fell in love with Melissa and she fell in love with him.
