Harold's Heartfelt Journey An Introduction to Embracing Therapy and Emotions

By Dr Mary Darden-Robinson

Meet Harold, a bright and curious eight-year-old who loves school but carries feelings too big for words. When the noise gets too loud, when the tears come without warning, and when home doesn't always feel like a safe place, Harold doesn't know how to explain what's going on inside.

Harold's Feelings takes young readers on a heartfelt journey through the eyes of a child navigating the emotional weight of watching his parents argue. With honesty, warmth, and just the right amount of hope, this story helps children understand that big feelings like anger, sadness, confusion, and fear are normal, and that asking for help is one of the bravest things a child can do.

When Harold's parents recognize he needs support, they introduce him to therapy. Inside that safe and welcoming space, Harold learns to name his emotions, work through his thoughts, and use tools like his very own Feelings Chart to communicate what words sometimes cannot say.

Written by Dr. Mary Darden-Robinson, a licensed therapist, Harold's Feelings is more than a story. It is a conversation starter and a gentle bridge between children and the adults who love them. A reminder that healing begins when someone finally says, "It's okay to feel what you feel."

Perfect for children ages 4 to 9, parents, educators, and mental health professionals seeking an accessible and affirming resource to open the door to emotional wellness, one feeling at a time.
