As an author, it grieved me when one of my favorite characters went off the deep end. Rejected most of Nathan's life by women, the pianist's career explodes in fame, bringing with it an avalanche of forbidden opportunities. Had it not been for the antics displayed by the pianist, it might have been difficult to exhibit God's extraordinary forgiveness and willingness to utilize all of us when we repent, turn around, and obey Him.
