Private detective Samuel Miller would like nothing more than to spend his vacation on the beaches of Rhode Island with a drink in his hand and a girl by his side. Even finding the host of a party dead... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Mr. Blevins' Hard Sell is a fast paced story about a classic detective, Sam Miller, who simply wants to enjoy his Rhode Island vacation. Two bodies dumped on his front porch spoil that, but just makes for an exciting read. Taking us all over the small state of Rhode Island, Hard Sell could double as a travel brochure. All in all, a great read, that you simply can't put down.
Hard-boiled detective with a heart of gold

Samuel Miller is a hard-boiled detective with a heart of gold. Although he professes to have no heart, it's obvious to the reader that Miller protests too much. Following in the footsteps of Dashiell Hammet and Raymond Chandler, Blevins has written a fast-paced detective story that will keep you turning the pages to find out how it ends. A beach read set at the Rhode Island beaches - what could be better? Looking forward to further adventures of Samuel Miller.

Excellent characterization and dialogue...fast-paced and yet relaxing. A very quick read with a rather complicated, yet easy to follow mystery. At times the author can be too descriptive, (who cares what each character is wearing at every moment?)but it's easy to get past that because of the intriguing characters. Looking forward to the next novel!

Robert B. Parkeresque! Another Spenser-like detective to fall in love with-if his quips don't cause you to chuckle too much. Great dialogue, a good mystery, and a new detective to follow. All this and the Ocean State, too. A great read.

Hard Sell is a page turner with all the elements of the detective genre in full swing. Gritty characterization and crisp dialogue frame a story set in beautiful Rhode Island. This fast-paced novel contrasts nicely with the relaxed laid-back atmosphere of summer by the sea.
