I have the version of this book that is published in 05. For some texts, 2 years can make a huge difference (as in the case of the Harcourt Trophies between 2001 and 2003 publishing dates), but a lot of times, there's only little changes. The cover on my book is the same as this one. Whichever way you go, I recommend that you buy books from the same publishing year as much as possible so they will more likely match one another. I did purchase an activity book that is older than my Teacher Editions and Student Edition and it still matches for this set. The main things I would look for are a set that is overall the least expensive and to match the years as much as possible. If you want to use Harcourt Horizons: About My World for homeschooling, you need: The student text (any state is fine, they will simply have some extra inserts if you get a state edition instead of the national edition) The activity book Optional: The teacher's guides If they are affordable and in your budget, I highly recommend them! I do really like the student text and the way it is laid out. In the version that is published in 05, the questions and activities are included in the lessons, so having the teacher's editions aren't mandatory, simply helpful. The activity book goes along with the lessons and is very helpful. This teacher's guide includes introductory questions for each lesson (and the answers), the answers for the activity pages, simple activities, reproducible blackline masters for vocabulary cards and letters home to parents (which have activities you can use for homeschooling), and suggestions for holiday activities. The teacher's guides are very straightforward and well laid out. They don't have a lot of extra junk, in my view, and I think they are very helpful! The ISBN's for the set I purchased are: TE Vol. 1: 0153396245 TE Vol. 2: 0153396644 SE text: 0153396407 Activity Bk: 0153225947 Just in case they might be helpful.
