When I first conceived this book my intent was to make it a brief history of my personal hikingexperiences; however, although the very first part of this book and one or two other sectionsfocus on my own hiking related activities, it won't take very long for the reader to discover thatthe story is really about two of us and our wanderings together as a hiking team. In the pursuit ofour goal to climb all sixty-seven New England mountain peaks that are in excess of fourthousand feet, we have hiked forty-two of them together; and all in two and one-half years.
