A look at environmental chemistry without the jargon

This book is a clear, concise discussion of chemicals in the environment, both natural and man made. Everyone, from the high school student to the professional scientist will find fascinating tidbits of information and some genuine surprises. It should help allay the anxiety of those who fear mankind is swimming in a deadly sea of toxic man made chemicals and the earth is heading for an environmental holocaust. I highly recommend this book.

Finally, some common sense on environmentalism

First an admission: I played a small role in the production of this book by editing an early draft. The author didn't make all the changes I suggested, and the book evolved quite a bit after my involvement ended. The author, Dr. Sweeney, showed a refreshing openness to suggestion and debate that is rare in the environmental movement."Happy and Healthy" is a small book -- just 181 pages -- but it covers everything from Aflatoxin to Zinc, and organic food to global warming. It does all this with plain language and common sense, and no scare tactics or pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo. This is a book everyone in the family can read and refer to from time to time to look up specific issues and concerns.This is an accurate and accessible guide to the biggest environmental and health issues of the day. Get it for your kids, but read it yourself first.

It made me feel happy and healthy

This little book is a gem! It is fast and easy to read and full of interesting information. The next time I open a newspaper, go to the grocery store, look at a farm, or a thousand other things, I will do so armed with the confidence and knowledge I need to understand the chemicals around me. After reading this book, I feel better about myself and the world we all live in. Read it, you will too.
