Well Done

Hannah's Journey is a well written and engaging story about one woman's determination to do what is best for her family. Hannah Hannigan is a kind and caring woman who is fiercely loyal and fights for the rights of others, including slaves. The author, Mary Twitty, writes with such accuracy that the reader is transported back to the year 1838 where we met Hannah in Ireland. Due to tragic circumstances, she and her husband Seamus, and their young children must leave their home in search of a better life. During their travels, we are introduced to Archibald Stone, who becomes obsessed with our heroine. When Hannah has an accident and becomes delirious, Archibald takes advantage of the situation. After the birth of her next child, Hannah and her family move away from Archibald without ever knowing that her daughter, Anna Rose, is his biological child. Some years later, when Hannah and Archibald meet again in America, the suspense builds as first Seamus learns of Archibald's treachery, and then Hannah herself discovers the truth. I rarely read historical fiction, but this book was so intriguing, the characters so interesting, I could hardly put it down.

Fascinating Historical Novel

The story starts in Ireland. I know very little about Ireland,so I continued reading. The story is told with a very "Light Touch", and the writer "pulls" the readerinto the story.I was wondering if the writer herselfwas Irish.Where else would she get this ability to Spin a Yarn ? The main characters are very appealing, and I reallyCARED to find out what happens to them.Next the story moves to South America, and then to NorthAmerica. Now, how does the writer know enough about Ireland,South America, and New York, in the Mid- 1800's ?She can not be THAT old ! Or can she ??Apparently she did quite a lot of research.I give her an A+ for this effort .This book is VERY PLEASANT to read. The people are fascinating. The locations are interesting. The plot twistsaround; but,is totally BELIEVEABLE.It is a NICE STORY.Well- written. I recommend it.
