The Compendium of Bible Didactics suggests seven different perspectives on the "Book of Books" within the contexts of religious education. The focus on 'history' explains the role of ancient Near Eastern, early Jewish and Greco-Roman contexts for Bible didactics. The focus on 'content' combines two complementary aspects: On the one hand entire books of the Bible as well as distinctive text passages (for example the Sermon on the Mount) are examined. On the other hand thematic aspects are addressed in terms of a "biblical theology", drawing on passages from different biblical books or even the Old and New Testaments (for example love/sexuality). The section on 'figures' deals with characters and historical figures ranging from Adam and Eve to Paul. The general focus on Bible didactics also allows for an overview over various 'concepts' of religious education. The section on 'methods' describes approaches and educational paths ranging from telling a story to the parish project "Kinderbibelwoche". Moreover the authors focus on the 'recipients', those who learn and read the Bible, ranging from kindergarden children to senior citizens, and discuss 'difficulties in approach and understanding'.
