Great book, if only they went for just a few color pages.

After having a recent problem with a Hamster, I did as much reading as I could to try and solve the problem (biting, anxiety, don't ask...). But as a result, I got the opportunity to read all the top rated books here. If you're trying to decide which one book to buy, I don't think this is the one. There's a lot of great info here, and I love the way it's written. There's some humor, and really gives you everything you need to know from start to finish. If you're deciding whether to get a hamster, or already have one and want to know more, it's all here. But.... I had to deduct a star for the fact there is not one single color picture other than the front cover. I just think it's so important with all the breeds and color variations out there, to include at least a few pages to really show people what they look like. It's part of learning about Hamsters. If you're looking for just one book that has it all, I would recommend the Hamster Guide that's part of the Barron's Series. Another plus of this book is that an older child as well as an adult would enjoy it. It's written pretty clearly and a nice easy read for anyone. So, if you don't care about pictures, this is a nice, inexpensive, option. But make sure you know your breeds well before going to the pet store. Most of the employees don't have a clue and all hamsters are not equal when it comes to being good pets for everyone.

Very imformative

We got a hamster and needed a refresher course on how to take the proper care of it. My kids loved looking at the pictures, and I enjoyed the information. Not too technical, easy to understand, and fun to read. I own the cats, and the kittens, books in this series.... all of them are great!

A very informative hamster book for all ages!

This is a really great hamster book, one of the best I've ever read. I've been keeping pet hamsters for over a decade, and I found that all of the information presented in this book was both fascinating and accurate. The author did an excellent job in making this book accessible for all ages. While the target audience of this book is adults, children who are ten and up should have no trouble reading it. The book is uses fun, lighthearted language to communicate the information. It is a very enjoyable read, no matter if you're a beginning hamster owner, or one who has been keeping hamsters for years. No matter what, you'll find lots of facts about the little furry rodents that you didn't know before. I highly recommend this book.
