The jack-o'-lanterns are carved, the brew is bubbling, the bats are aflutter on the ceiling. Helping her are Ogre and Olaf and all of their friends--zombies, ghosts, and mummies. my two year old adores this book!

I am not one to write reviews often, but just had to let anyone wondering about this book know that my two year old got it for his birthday in September and ever since then, I think we are asked to read it a minimum of 3 or 4 times a day. The illustrations are wonderful, every time we see something new in the pages. An easy read and fun for all ages. You will not be disappointed by this book!

Great Book...

Not only is it a fun read and the illustrations great to look at. There's a message in there about not judging someone by how they look.

A Really Wonderful Book

My four-year-old daughter LOVED this book. The pictures are wonderful and it has just the right blend of gross/spooky and delightful- perfect for preschoolers and up! We checked this out at the library, but now I'm buying it for our permanent collectiong.

Very Halloweenish!

Reviewed by Avery McGinn (age 7) for Reader Views (9/08) "Halloween Night" by Marjorie Dennis Murray is a rhyming poem about monsters that are getting ready for a party. They prepare lots of yucky things for the party like rotten eggs, grubs and crunchy legs. It's so gross! The illustrations in the book are really imaginative. My favorite part of the story is when the bats come out because they are so cute. My other favorite characters are the little green creepies and the witch's pet monster, Doop. They are scary cute, not scary, scary. I like this entire book. There's not one thing I do not like about it! This book is very Halloweenish and is great for getting you into the Halloween Spirit at the beginning of October. I will tell all of my friends about "Halloween Night" by Marjorie Dennis Murray.

In choosing which National Days and holidays to promote here at ThriftBooks, the goals are usually reading, humor, learning, awareness, and/or having fun, with an undertone of acceptance and diversity, because books are for everyone. But as much as we wish we could include anything and everything, it's simply not possible, at least until quantum physics advances and we can post in alternate universes. Below are 31 (out of 114 possible) October monthly observances worthy of giving more love to, plus eight weekly ones (bonus!).
