Half Vampire And The Silent Flame

Then Stella softened her voice, painfully honest.
"Ethen..why don't you let the past go? She's gone. She's happy with someone else. Accept it."
That hit him deep. He swallowed hard.
"How am I supposed to forget when you keep reminding me every damn time? If you want me to move on, stop dragging her into every conversation."
Stella stepped a little closer, frustration edging her expression.
"Then accept the truth. She chose someone else over you. The sooner you face that, the better."
Ethen's laugh was humorless, sharp.
"You know what I think? You're jealous. Because you know that Cassian and I... we would always choose Evelyn over you."
Stella didn't let the words sting her, didn't even blink. She smiled mockingly.
"But reality is...Evelyn chose Cassian. And she'll keep choosing him. Every time."
Ethen stared at her, stunned by her bluntness.
"And how do you know she'll always choose him?"
Stella's lips curled into a wicked smirk.
"Because I would choose Cassian. Any woman would. He's decent, steady, caring. Not like you."
Ethen was frozen for a moment. Then the shock turned into confusion.
"What? You've spent years telling me you care about me. And now you're saying you'd choose Cassian? How does that make sense, Stella? What exactly is your connection with him?"
Stella's breath caught. She hesitated.
"I didn't mean it like that.. I just meant he's the kind of man anyone would pick. Look at you-really look at yourself. No woman would choose someone who doesn't even know what he wants."
Ethen's throat tightened; rage twisted inside him.
"Oh, so you wouldn't choose me either?" he said bitterly, voice breaking. "Then why the hell do you even show up here?"
She didn't get to answer. His anger snapped. Ethen turned away, heading toward the door, intending to walk out entirely.
But he stopped abruptly near a side table.
His eyes landed on a glass bottle.
And in a second of reckless fury, he grabbed it and spun around, hurling it straight at Stella.
But Stella-anticipating him-caught the bottle mid-air with one sharp movement, fingers tightening around the glass before it could hit her.
She shook her head slowly, disappointment clear in her eyes.
Ethen didn't wait.
He stormed out of the house, slamming the door behind him.
Stella stood alone in the lounge, bottle still in her hand, whispering to herself about his Recklessness's.
