However, the young girl in the story takes control of her self-image through confidence and positive affirmations. She showcases the true uniqueness of African hair and highlights its beauty. The story is focused on elevating, uplifting, and reinforcing positive attitudes. The goal of the book is to help little girls reflect on their own feelings about their hair and celebrate their natural beauty.
