Hail Mary Murder: A Sisters Voss Cozy Mystery: Murder at 35,000 Feet

By Michael R. Wick

Two nuns. A sealed aircraft. A dead man who should never have boarded.

When Sister Claire Voss discovers a seven-hundred-year-old letter hidden in her convent's archive - a letter that could shake the foundations of the Catholic Church - she and her aunt, the formidable Sister Margaret, board a flight to Rome to deliver it to the Vatican. The journey should take three hours. It takes considerably longer to recover from.

Somewhere over the Alps, a man dies in seat 14C. The flight crew logs it as a cardiac event. Sister Claire logs something else entirely: a man who boarded late, chose a seat with perfect sightlines to the nuns, ordered two drinks and touched neither, and asked the flight attendant which passengers were travelling on Church business.

Sister Margaret, who has spent forty years learning to read people with the precision of a confessor and the patience of a saint, has already noticed something more unsettling than any of that.

She has noticed the man two rows back.

Hail Mary Murder is a richly atmospheric cozy mystery set aboard a single flight from Dublin to Rome, featuring one of crime fiction's most distinctive detective duos: the contemplative, razor-sharp Sister Margaret Voss and her restless, archive-obsessed niece Sister Claire. Together they must unravel a murder that was never meant to look like one - before the wheels touch down and the truth disappears forever.
