This unique bilingual haiku anthology is a product of the students at the Princeton Adult School, who took the Haiku Writing Class in the Spring Semester 2021. The area surrounding Princeton abounds with wildlife-both fauna and flora-offering an ideal environment to admire and explore nature. For instance, this locale, an enclave of the Delaware Raritan Canal State Park of New Jersey, is a home to the Princeton Bald Eagle. Watching how the eagle couple has raised their young against the vagaries of weather--including snowstorms in winter and spring, as well as hurricanes in summer and autumn (one of their nests was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in 2012)--is not only a blessing in itself, but is also an inspiration to write poetry in general and haiku in particular. This collection contains 105 haikus featuring spring and presents each haiku in both English and Japanese so that readers can appreciate it in two languages. The chapters are divided according to the seven categories of haiku: Season/Weather; Heaven; Earth; Life; Events/Observances; Fauna; and Flora. Through this collection, readers can stroll and enjoy the abundant nature in the Greater Princeton area.
