Book Overview

Three neglected but important prophets receive a fresh and penetrating analysis in this introduction and commentary. For each prophet's work, Joyce Baldwin first considers the general issues of author, text and message, then offers a passage-by-passage commentary."Considerable attention has been given in the book to background material, and proper consideration is accorded to the views of those from whom the author differs," writes reviewer R. K. Harrison. "In expounding the text, Baldwin produces evidence of balanced scholarship and a high degree of spiritual insight."The original, unrevised text of this volume has been completely retypeset and printed in a larger, more attractive format with the new cover design for the series.

Not What I Ordered

I received my copy of Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi by Joyce Baldwin in supposedly very good condition, but it was an older version and there were two or three places that were coming apart from the book. Acceptable...yes; very good...no.

great commentary about the good Book.....

good book, plenty of detail. good for a student, pastor, or someone just look to learn about the Bible. worth every penny.

Very informative

This book is part of the Inter-Varsity Press Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries series, and covers the last three books of the Old Testament. In this book, Professor Joyce G. Baldwin, Dean of Woman at Trinity College, Bristol, takes each of the three book, introduces the author (or authors) and their messages, and then goes through the books for a verse-by-verse commentary. The author takes a broad look at the books, covering the many theories for the dates of authorship and so forth, and refuses to take a dogmatic view of any of them. Overall, I found this to be a very informative look at these books. I have found this to be a useful addition to my library, and think that you will as well.
