The liver alone performs hundreds of functions in the body, with around 500 duties, it is no lightweight. One of these functions, the one I am currently interested in is the regulating of the blood flow throughout the body. The arms are legs are prioritized when the body enters fight or flight mode, therefore blood is diverted to them. This activates the muscles and gives the arms and legs the strength required to take the appropriate action. It also causes a decrease in the flow of blood in the liver but it doesn't matter because the filtration and digestion are not prioritized at that moment. The process is reversed when the body returns to rest mode. Filtration and digestion becomes a priority again and the blood flow to the liver is increased.
The liver also produces bile and bile salt which are transported to the gallbladder and small intestine. The vagus nerve indirectly controls both the production and the transportation of bile and bile salt. Experts have noticed that cholangiocytes, the cells responsible for both actions are active when the vagus nerve is active. The vagus nerve activates the cholangiocytes cells and to produce the bile and bile salt then transport it to the small intestine.

The vagus nerve transmit information to and fro the kidneys to aid the control of fluids and water flowing into the bloodstream. The kidney filters the fluids and water using the kidney glomeruli, and removes toxins from the body, herby maintaining the blood pressure. The blood vessels send signals to the brain when the body is under stress. The brainstem then transmits signals to the kidney, through the vagus nerves. The signals trigger the kidney to increase the blood pressure. The kidney accomplishes this by constricting its blood vessels to reduce the quantity of water it filters out of the bloodstream.
