Habits of Grace: Enjoying Jesus Through the Spiritual Disciplines (Updated Edition)

By David Mathis

Simple Habits to Awaken the Soul to the Glory of God

There are 3 seemingly unremarkable principles that shape and strengthen the Christian life: reading the Bible, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Though often viewed as normal and routine, these "habits of grace" give us access to these God-designed channels through which his love and power flow--including the greatest joy of all: knowing and enjoying Jesus.

Whether it's hearing God's voice (the word), having his ear (prayer), or participating in his body (fellowship), such spiritual rhythms of the Christian life have the power to awaken our souls to God's glory and stir our hearts for lifelong service in his name. What's more, these seemingly simple practices grant us access to a host of spiritual blessings that we can only begin to imagine this side of eternity--and the incredible joy that such blessings bring to God's children today.

Explores Spiritual Disciplines: Focuses on Bible reading, prayer, and fellowship, and the blessings that result from cultivating such "habits of grace" Grace-Focused Approach: Emphasizes the importance of viewing such practices as channels of God's grace, not works done to merit his approval Additional Resources: A study guide for individual and group study is also available Written by David Mathis: Executive editor at desiringGod.org, a popular evangelical ministry with a large online following Foreword by Bestselling Author John Piper
