Few people have ever seen an original Gutenberg much less held and examined it closely. Owning a fine facsimile of one of the world's most significant books, allows for closer study while affording students and others the opportunity to connect with the Bible's rich heritage. Our edition was reproduced from a copy of the 42-line Bible based on the earlier Insel Verlag facsimile (Leipzig, 1913-14), which was derived from the Gutenberg copies at Berlin and Fulda (considered the most beautifully illuminated of all known copies). It is adorned with 100 miniatures in color and initials, chapter numbers, and headlines printed in red and blue. The opening leaves of the various books are adorned with elaborate Initials and marginal embellishments.. There are also elaborate and fanciful marginal borders incorporating flowers, foliage, animals, etc. in deep rich colors with gold accents. put pics in hereFor our binding we choose rich burgundy leather with gold debossing and lettering.
