The Empire Strikes Back

Gunnison's Empire can be found either under the James Keene name or under the Will Cook name which is the author's real name; but under either this is an excellent western. The main character Charlie Gunnison also is the lead in another James Keene book--Sixgun Wild--published three years earlier. Gunnison is still a "trouble shooter" for the Cattlemen's Association and this time he's headed for Texas. He battles "amateurs" who know no better, and "pros" who should have known better; for Charlie Gunnison was better known as Charlie Sixgun in all that that name implies.
