This writing is to recount some of the history of my childhood until I joined the United States Air Force in September 1953, four months before I turned 18 years old.The main purpose is to make it available for the pleasures of the Cowen family as well as friends and acquaintances who may have participated in some of my life's events. Many of my family members have heard some of these stories over the years and have urged me to write them.
